On the morning of The Annual March For Life, The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 37) passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 241-183.
The good news is that it passed at all. All 241 House Republicans voted to support this legislation. The appalling fact is that only six Democrats voted to protect babies that are born alive after abortion. This bill enforces criminal penalties against the abortionist who does not take measures to save a baby’s life that survives a late-term botched abortion. The law also mandates that abortionists provide transport for living babies to nearby hospital facilities for care, and for clinic personnel to report any violations of the law.
In the wake of the murders committed by abortionist/serial killer Kermit Gosnell, the monster from Philadelphia who snipped living babies’ spinal cords and stored their severed feet in his refrigerator, how can anyone in possession of a heart, soul and sound mental faculties even think of opposing this life-saving bill? What has our culture devolved into?
What started out as a woman’s "choice" and so-called right to privacy has devolved over 45 years into a bloody and lucrative billion dollar business where babies’ body parts are sold to research labs, women suffer long-term physical and mental harm from their abortions and babies are now being killed after they are born. Today as I write this, the news is all about the government shutdown.
Kermit Gosnell was not an isolated case. Worse, their horrific crimes are going unpunished.
On May 3, 2013, Mark Crutcher conducted an exclusive interview with three abortion clinic workers who described babies that were born alive daily, and then murdered. All three workers explain in graphic detail the methods by which he would murder the babies.
The D & E method of late term abortion (dilation and evacuation) in which the baby’s limbs are torn apart, is routinely performed when the pre-born is so large that no other method to kill it would work. During the two-part preparation stage, when the pregnant woman’s cervix is dilated followed by a drug to begin labor, sometimes the baby would literally fall out before the abortion begins. This is what is known as the “dreaded complication” – a born baby.
Last Friday, 183 Democrats made a decision to allow this barbarism to continue. They support murder. There is no other way to view what they did. Meanwhile, a new Marist poll shows that 76 percent of Americans favor substantial abortion restrictions.
With Americans becoming increasingly pro-life, how can the Democrats in Congress face their constituents? More important, why are their constituents continuing to elect them into office? There is obviously a disparity between what Americans say they believe and how they vote on what they say they believe.
In 1973, things were different. People were ignorant about the details of the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions and what the consequences would be. Advanced medical techniques that show a window into the womb did not exist in 1973. There were no three dimensional ultrasonic images showing the details of fetal development.
In 1973, people believed the lie that 5,000 to 10,000 women died every year from illegal botched abortions. From the start, the media formed an alliance with radical activists who spearheaded liberalizing abortion laws, and the “10,000 dead women every year” lie was perpetuated. Dr. Bernard Nathanson, co-founder of NARAL (formerly the “National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws) and pioneer in the abortion movement, admitted later that the numbers of fatalities from illegal abortions were a total fabrication. Dr. Nathanson eventually switched sides and became pro-life, publishing films that revealed the truth about abortion to the public.
In 1973, legalization was championed without voter participation and with a sinister hidden purpose that was more about race than women’s rights. The outcome of Roe v. Wade has been to gradually decrease the African American population, reflecting the goals of Nazi sympathizer Margaret Sanger, who referenced racial purification in her written works and interviews.
What is the outcome of legal abortion? Over the past 45 years, there have been dire consequences for minorities, especially for our black population. The Center for Disease Control in 2016 reported that 35% of all babies aborted are African-American, although they make up only 13.3% of our total population.
Since 1973, Democrats have become complacent and comfortable with murder. Except for six individuals each of whom possesses a conscience, the rest of the Congressional Democrats made their opinions official that infanticide isn’t such a bad thing after all.
